In support of the XVIIth World Congress on Safety and Health at Work, NIOSH will not be convening the National Occupational Injury Research Symposium (NOIRS) in 2006. NIOSH is serving on the National Organizing Committee for the XVIIth World Congress, and is providing input to the themes, programs, and presentations for this upcoming conference. We encourage all NOIRS attendees to take advantage of this international opportunity to present and exchange occupational injury research by participating in the XVIIth World Congress. The 4th National Occupational Injury Research Symposium is tentatively planned for October, 2008.

Advanced Personal Protective Equipment: Challenges in Protecting First Responders
Call for Papers: The Challenges in Protecting First Responders Conference offers an excellent opportunity for representatives from government, industry, PPE manufacturers and PPE end users to share information about the challenges and potential solutions to PPE issues for disaster/emergency fist responders. First responders, PPE end users, PPE manufacturers, and researchers are encouraged to participate. Papers of up to five (5) pages length will be published in a conference binder.
